Such an attitude can belittle the witness of the church and destroy its orientation toward the ultimate truth of Christ our Savior.
There is most certainly a relationship between Healy’s arguments and Luke Bretherton and Andrew Walker’s introduction to Remembering our Future: Explorations in Deep Church. In their writings, the authors suggest that one key element in the framework for deep church is a discontent for the loss of confidence in the Gospel. This may attribute to a shift in the church becoming more confident in its structure and identity, than fully relying on the transforming power of the cross.
